MEET VERONICA G. WILLIAMS
Hello, I’m Veronica Williams. I was born in 1972 in Jalisco, Mexico, to a Mexican-American father and a Mexican mother. When I was just one year old, my family moved to Los Angeles, California, where I grew up. I attended State Street Elementary, Gage Junior High, and Huntington Park Senior High School, graduating in 1990.
After high school, I proudly joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1990 to 1994 aboard the USS Cape Cod (AD-43). I later spent time in the Naval Reserve and completed my military service in beautiful San Diego, California.
During my time in California, I met my husband, James, and we quickly married. In 1999, we left California when James transitioned from the Navy into the U.S. Army. Military life took us across several states before we finally settled in Texas, in 2006 — a place we’ve proudly called home for nearly two decades.
While raising our four wonderful children, I pursued my education and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Saint Martin’s University in Washington, followed by a Master’s degree in Counseling from Wayland Baptist University here in Texas. For the past decade, I’ve worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in private practice, helping individuals and families find healing, hope, and strength.
As both a Veteran and a wartime Army spouse, I understand the sacrifices that service members, military families, and Veterans make every single day. I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to protect and provide for those who serve our country. As a mental health professional, I’ve also seen how many people struggle silently — not just Veterans, but hardworking Americans from all walks of life — simply because they can’t afford or access the care they need.
That’s why I’m running for office as an Independent. I believe it’s time for leadership that listens to people, not parties. My focus is on solutions, compassion, and common sense — ensuring every citizen has access to quality healthcare (including mental health), supporting our Veterans and military families, strengthening education, and protecting the opportunities that allow every person to thrive.
My journey — from a little girl born in Jalisco to a proud American Veteran, wife, mother, and counselor — has taught me that when we take care of one another, we all rise together. I’m not running to represent a party. I’m running to represent you — the people of Texas.
